On 24th January, our Naropa Fellows had the opportunity to interact with Kartik Desai, Executive Director at Asha Impact, an impact investing and policy advocacy organisation, operating a multi-family office for Indian business leaders and philanthropists, to jointly invest in social enterprises and engage with the government. With over a decade of experience in venture capital, social entrepreneurship, investment banking and international development, Kartik has been an investment manager at two of the largest impact funds in India, Lok Capital and Avishkaar, and is the founder of What’s Up Bharat, a platform for young Indians to engage on social and political issues using data analytics.
Kartik, accompanied by his team, delivered an insightful masterclass on ‘Impact Investing’ for our budding entrepreneurs. The session gathered momentum as Sunil Arora, Textile Industry Champion, Angel Investor and Donor at the Druk Padma Karpo School, Ladakh, India joined along with NidaMahmood, renowned Fashion Designer to share their own experience.
As the Live-Action Projects of the Class of 2020 are gradually shaping up, our Fellows had a lot to take away from this interaction. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kartik and his team, Sunil and Nida for their support and guidance.
